The mud, rock cuttings, polluted oil, and oil sludge generated during the process of petroleum and natural gas development have been classified by the country as hazardous waste. Article 55 of the “Law of the People’s Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste” stipulates that units generating hazardous waste must dispose of it in accordance with relevant national regulations and are prohibited from unauthorized dumping or stacking. Article 57, paragraph three, prohibits the provision or commissioning of hazardous waste collection, storage, utilization, and disposal activities to units without an operating permit.
The current situation of the technical treatment of drilling waste mud: The objectives of drilling waste mud treatment are to eliminate pollution and protect the environment, as well as to recycle and utilize it for beneficial purposes.

The solidification treatment process for drilling waste mud mainly uses solid control equipment for the solid phase control and solid-liquid separation of drilling fluid during the drilling process to ensure stable performance of the drilling fluid and achieve the repeated circulation and reuse of the mud. The solid control system usually consists of 3-7 mud tanks, equipped with solid control, chemical mixing, and weighting equipment to meet the requirements of different well depths and drilling mud. Each processing equipment can operate independently or in combination and is suitable for drilling projects with depths ranging from 500 to 9000 meters, and it can support the production of mud circulation systems for workover rigs with capacities such as 250HP, 350HP, 450HP, 550HP, 650HP, 750HP, as well as land-based drilling rigs with capacities of 1000HP, 1500HP, 2000HP, and 3000HP.
